What to do for now: pay the team your usual way (check, bank transfer or cash) and record it. See TF-05. Everything else works today: scheduling, check-in, the team's total, and your payment history.
Why the new hire report matters
- Many states require a report each time a business pays a new worker for the first time.
- States use these reports for things like child support collection, so an incorrect report about a volunteer treasurer could cause them real trouble.
- An organization isn't a new hire, so the report shouldn't be filed.
What changes when it's turned on
- A Send button appears next to Record payment.
- The money comes from the bank account you use for payroll, kept separate from your payroll runs and reports.
- Each team gets a secure link to sign a W-9 and connect the organization's bank account. The person setting up the account will need their own Social Security number for a standard security check.
- Record payment stays available for teams you'd rather pay yourself.
We'll let you know as soon as it's ready.
