What happens when someone needs access they don't have?

Permissions in Tourney Direct are deliberately specific; nothing is granted by default. When someone on your team tries to do something they haven't been given permission for, they can request it on the spot instead of tracking down whoever manages your account. Your org admin gets a text from Teddy and can approve or deny it right there, or from the portal.

Where:

Teddy texts your org admin automatically, or Account → Team & Permissions → Pending access requests.

Requesting access

When a request for access goes out, your organization's admin gets a text from Teddy naming the exact permission requested, with a reply-YES option and a link to manage all permissions in the portal.

Approving or denying

  • Reply directly to the text with YES to grant exactly the one permission requested, or NO to deny it.
  • Open Team & Permissions in the portal, every open request appears under Pending access requests, with Approve and Deny buttons. This is the better option if several requests have come in, since you can review each one before deciding.

What the requester sees

If approved, they get a text confirming the permission and can immediately retry the action that was blocked; no need to log out or refresh anything. If denied, they're told to contact their org admin for details.

Good to know

  • A request only ever asks for the one specific permission that was blocked; approving it doesn't open up anything else.
  • Approving a request from the portal has the exact same effect as replying YES by text; use whichever is more convenient in the moment.
  • Only an Org Admin, or someone with the "Add people to the account and assign their permissions" permission, can approve or deny requests.
